Common Issues

What constitutes an emergency?

If you are experiencing any of the following, do not wait. Delaying treatment can lead to more complex and expensive procedures later.

Severe Toothache

Constant, throbbing pain that keeps you awake or radiates to the jaw and ear.

Knocked-Out Tooth

Time is critical. If a tooth is knocked out, we have the best chance of saving it within 60 minutes.

Broken or Cracked Tooth

Large fractures can expose the nerve, leading to rapid infection and extreme sensitivity.

Abscess or Swelling

Swelling of the gums or face is a sign of a serious infection that requires immediate intervention.

While you're on your way...

For a knocked-out tooth:

Handle the tooth only by the crown (the top). Rinse it gently. If possible, place it back in the socket. If not, keep it in a small container of milk.

For severe pain:

Rinse with warm salt water and use a cold compress on the outside of your cheek to reduce swelling. Do not place aspirin directly on the gums.

For a lost filling or crown:

Keep the restoration if you found it. You can use a small amount of dental adhesive or even sugarless gum to temporarily plug the cavity until you reach us.
